My fearless child

Mooooommmaaaa, look what Emily did now!!!
She even put it on her lips!!!
She didn't leave out anything - it is on her legs and feet!!
Emily's masterpiece and although she shouldn't be.........yes she is proud of it!

Tonight while I was getting dinner ready.....I heard Anna scream my name. I figured Emily had done something- who else could it be?!? Sure enough the same child who was throwing jelly beans across the living room today has found some way to get my attention. I just don't understand why she continually writes on everything! Nothing I can say or do scares her out of this bad habit. I have tried time-out, spanking, taking all writing utensils away (which is almost impossible w/out punishing Anna for Emily's crime), making her clean up her mess(which she loves). Seldom a day goes by that I don't have to break out the magic eraser and put it to work. Anna never did this, well I take that back, one time she wrote on her bed room wall. The poor child was crying before I even found it! She hasn't done it since, thank God! If anyone has ever successfully broke a child of this habit, please share with me how to cure her.

  1. Sorry Ginger. I haven't quite gotten to that stage yet. Looks like you may have a budding artist on your hands though! By the way, I love, love, LOVE the pics of the girls with the roses on your blog!! Beautiful!

  2. She and John Parker would get along quite well. He left his on little masterpiece on the playroom wall--as you saw via my blog. You are so right, she does look so PROUD! Good Luck!! (I found it kind of funny too....;)!!!!

  4. She sounds a lot like my youngest nephew, Eli. He drew on Nikki's car door with a pen AFTER she told him not to draw on the console!! He decided she didn't say not to draw on the door!! LOL She wasn't laughing and believe me, that wasn't the first time! He has drawn on everything also and she has yet to break him and she has tried everything too! I'm not sure if you can actually break a strong willed child (as my mom always says about me, Lord knows she tried:) Maybe she will outgrow this stage fairly quickly and she won't do it again! My only other suggestion is to read her the book Olivia (it's about a pig)...Olivia does this exact thing and her mom teachs her a lesson. Maybe Emily would like it and learn from it??
Anyway, I haven't commented on your previous blogs yet, so just wanted to say your sewing talents are good and the bow making comes in very handy with girls. I have alreay had Nikki show me how to make those same bows because I can't affor $4 (for the tiny ones she wears now!!) when she will obviously have to have a bow for every outfit!! LOL I am also in the process of making my first cute pants for Emmie and plan on learning to do many many outfits for her and have Nikki Monogram them!! It will save a TON of money I know!! So, kudos to you for learning, it does take talent, patience and TIME!!

  5. Oh, my!! I think you are handling it very well. I have no suggestions! If she was at school (I used to be a teacher) I would take some of her recess away and call her mother. Hee....heee!!
